Fun Fundraisers

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to be a vendor at two fundraisers–Concordia University Irvine's Heart of Hospitality event and Exodus3 Church's Benefit Night. It's always fun to participate in events I believe in, so I prepared some greeting cards, framed art prints, buttons and temporary tattoos to sell and donate to the events.

Both events were so fun and special, and it was a privilege to be part of God's work!

J&S Wedding Invitation Suite

Designing my own invitation suite and program was one of the things I looked forward to the most during wedding planning. Despite the pressure to make it look amazing, I was able to have fun and customize it as much as possible!

Here are some resources I referenced during the process: Hand carved stamp tutorial, watercolor lettering

There were definitely moments where I felt overwhelmed with making 250 copies of everything. In the end, I learned delegation and asking for help could make a tedious job into a fun one. Thanks to all the ladies who helped cut, fold, write calligraphy and make the process so much more enjoyable!

Bridal Shower + Bachelorette

About a month before my wedding, my bridesmaids threw me a beautiful bridal shower! Being into party planning and crafts, I tried to help as much as I could - much to my bridesmaids' dismay. In the end, it was a fun celebration with diy flower crowns, bundt cakes, tattly floral tattoos, gifts, and surprises.

I seriously had the best bridesmaids. For my bachelorette, they took me around downtown LA for wine tasting, photos at the LACMA, and dinner. Thanks to my bride-to-be status, we got complimentary macaroons and desserts wherever we went!

During all the celebrations, it was easy to get lost in the details and feel my pride. However, the verse, James 4:10, kept me grounded (for the most part) and helped me realize that God was the ultimate planner. As I died to myself, God worked everything out in ways better than I imagined.

God is faithful, and I am excited to share how He continued His work in my wedding and honeymoon in the next post!

Calligraphy at Crafternoon

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to teach my first calligraphy class at Exodus3's Crafternoon event! I had so much fun showing everyone the basics of calligraphy that I learned from a worshop I took with Maybelle Imasa and from practicing on my own. I had prepared about 10 calligraphy sets so I had the opportunity to show each person how to use their pen and write in calligraphy!

I'm so thankful for the fun and fellowship we enjoyed that day, and hopefully I'll be able to do more workshops in the future!

Be Fruitful and Multiply

I have always wanted to do a lettering piece on a large chalkboard wall, and I finally got the opportunity when my church community moved into a new office! With the help of friends, we prepped the chalk wall and once it was ready, I started lettering!

God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth. –Genesis 1:28

As we keep receiving God’s love, we will naturally bear fruit and overflow in love, grace and all the wonderful fruit of the spirit! So thankful I had the opportunity to work on this project with friends, and hopefully this is the first of many more large scale projects!

Be my bridesmaid?

When it came time for me to put something together to ask my friends/family to be part of my wedding party, I wanted to do something simple and thoughtful. The result was a custom card, nail polish and pins thrown into a plastic bag filled with confetti!

While making the cards, I also made a "Will you be my bridesmaid?" card as well for others to download and use! Click here to download!

Hope you enjoy the download and happy crafting to all brides-to-be!

Design Talks

When I am working on a drawing/design, I really enjoy streaming a great talk from someone who inspires me. Their stories and advice inject even more inspiration and motivation into me as I work, and I also feel more productive for doing two things at once :)

Here are some talks that never fail to inspire me!

The Proposal

Last December, I got engaged to my fiancé, James, at Naples Canals in Long Beach, CA!

We went on a gondola ride and though I had my suspicions that he might propose, I really wasn't certain until our gondolier started singing "it's now or never..." halfway through the ride. That's when James asked me to marry him!

As soon as he asked, I saw our friends standing on a bridge cheering for us! They made the night even more special, and we all went out to dinner afterwards to celebrate.

Our first date was to the Long Beach Aquarium, so having the proposal take place in Long Beach felt like we came full circle. We are feeling truly thankful, blessed and excited for what's to come! Also, don't be surprised if I have more wedding-related and DIY posts as I start planning for the big day!
